One of the things that often goes wrong in the language classroom and in textbooks is the failure to consider all possible contexts for a given expression. Here is an example of a quiz question where students are asked to choose between "so" and "and" to connect two statements. The expected answer is "and", but students might quite validly picture the situation in such a way that "so" is correct.
