John R. Yamamoto-Wilson (aka Ano Sensei) holds a PhD from Magdalene College, Cambridge, and an MA in Linguistics from the University of Bangor. He is a retired Professor of English Literature from Sophia University, Tokyo, and has published widely in early modern literature, linguistics, and language teaching. A full list of his academic publications is available on Google Scholar, with PDFs of many articles on ResearchGate.
John inherited a love of literature — and particularly poetry — from his father, the poet and anthologist Raymond Wilson, and shares his lifelong belief in the transformative power of a love of literature. After retiring from Sophia University, he created the Ano Sensei YouTube channel and this website, with the aim of making great literature accessible to anyone, anywhere in the world.
