Kubla Khan, by Samuel Taylor Coleridge: A plain reading
For an analysis of the poem itself, click here: https://youtu.be/PWpiUTfmY48.
You can also find my analysis of the poem's famous ...preface, in which Coleridge tells us that the poem was written under the influence of an "anodyne" (elsewhere specified as opium, prescribed for medicinal purposes) and left unfinished after he was interrupted by "a person from Porlock" (a nearby village): https://youtu.be/LFVd8IPkCwc

I sometimes pass through Porlock on my motorcycle, and every time I see the signs for Porlock I think of Coleridge’s opium dreams.
I have many childhood memories of that part of the world. It’s a nice place to be!
🙂
Great!!
Thank you so much, Adeela! I am adding the finishing touches to an illustrated reading, which will be premiered 24 hours from now. In the meantime, here is a preview… https://youtu.be/3SGJr6KRCZA
